Acrylic Sealer Undercoat Application Guide
Paint Tech Acrylic Sealer Undercoat is an acrylic water based primer specially modified to maximise penetration, adhesion and alkali resistance.
Use on
Can be applied using a roller, brush or spray. Apply one coat of Acrylic Sealer undercoat. For paperfaced plasterboard, where there is different texture between paper and jointing compound, or where extra idling and smoothness are required, apply a second coat of acrylic sealer undercoat.
Coverage
Approximately 16 square metres per litre, depending on the nature of the surface. Spreading rate on rough or absorbent surfaces will be lower. Drying and recoating Normally dries to touch in 30 minutes and may be recoated after 2 hours at 25°C and 50% RH. Under cooler or humid conditions, allow longer times. Do not use in temperatures below 10°C.
Surface preparation
Scrape off loose and flaking paint. Wash with sugar soap. Fill nail holes, cracks etc. with a suitable filler. Sand smooth and dust down. Paint these areas with Paint Tech Easy Sand Sealer undercoat. Sand gloss and semi-gloss surfaces thoroughly, wipe clean. New paperfaced wallboard, hardboard Brush down to remove dust. Apply 1 coat of Paint Tech Acrylic Sealer Undercoat.
Brush down with a stiff fibre brush. Fill cracks with a suitable filler, sand and dust down. For new plaster, fibrous plaster and plasterglass. paint filler areas with Paint Tech Easy Sand Sealer undercoat.
Thinning
Not usually required. On very absorbent surfaces e.g. set plaster, or on very hot days, dampen the surface and thin the first coat with up to 100ml of water per litre.
Clean up
Water, clean equipment immediately after use.
Care of new paintwork
Avoid exposure to steam and condensation for 48 hours after painting. May be lightly cleaned with a sponge wet with detergent solution after 7 days. |
