Weather Guard Exterior Application Guide

Weather Guard ExteriorPaint Tech Weather Guard Exterior paint is a premium low sheen water based exterior paint combining UV protection with dirt pick-up and mould resistance. This product is highly recommended for exterior walls.

Use on
All exterior walls and trim including timber. cement and masonry etc.

Application
Short nap roller, brush or spray. Apply 2 coats of Paint Tech Weather Guard Exterior ensuring that applying the second. Remember using poor quality or worn the first coat is completely dry before rollers can effect the final finish achieved. Spread paint evenly and do not overspread. Where necessary , apply a Second Coat.

Coverage
Approximately 16 square meters per litre , depending on the nature of the surface. Spreading rate on rough or absorbent surfaces will be lower. Drying and recoating Normally dries to touch in 30 minutes and may be recoated after 2 hours at 25°C and 50% RH. Under cooler or humid conditions , allow longer times. Do not use in temperatures below 10°C.

Surface preparation
All surfaces to be painted must be clean, dry and free of contamination. In hot and windy conditions or when painting very absorbent surfaces, dampen the surface with water before painting.

Previously painted surfaces
For repainted surface, remove all loose and flaking flaking paint, spot bare areas with Paint Tech Weather Guard Exterior or the appropriate primer.

New paperfaced wallboard or hardboard
Brush down to remove dust. Apply 1 coat of Paint Tech Easy Sand Sealer Undercoat.

New plaster, fibrous plaster or plasterglass
Brush down with a stiff fibre brush. Fill cracks with a suitable filler, sand and dust down. For new plaster, fibrous plaster and plasterglass, paint filled areas with Paint Tech Easy Sand Sealer Undercoat.

Thinning
Not usually required. On very absorbent surfaces e. g. set plaster. or on very hot days , dampen the surface and thin the first coat with up to 100mm of water per litre.

Clean up
Water. clean equipment immediately after use.

Care of new paintwork
Avoid exposure to steam and condensation for 48 hours after painting. May be lightly cleaned with a sponge wet with detergent solution after 7 days.
